| Utah corrections dept. facing job, pay cuts |

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - Utah Department of Corrections officials say they'll eliminate up to 160 full-time jobs by July 1 as part of an effort to trim some $20 million from its budget for fiscal year 2010. Officials say cuts will come through retirements and open positions that won't be filled. Only two workers are expected to be laid off. In addition 23 people will be reassigned to new positions and some will take pay cuts. The pay cuts average 22%, but are as high as 37% in some cases. Read more.
