GUILFORD COUNTY, N.C. - Guilford County commissioners don't plan to give up on state prison in McLeansville without a fight. Gov. Bev Perdue's budget slashing recommendations includes the closing of several state prisons. The state senate has narrowed the list to three, including the McLeansville facility. In addition to passing a resolution opposing McLeansville's closing at Thursday night's meeting, commissioners are also planning to lobby state lawmakers in Raleigh later this month in an effort to keep the prison open.
