McCreary’s new warden has experience

PINE KNOT — Eric D. Wilson has been named to succeed Donald L. Stine as warden of USP McCreary. Stine retired at the end of December.

Wilson arrived at the high-security USP Mc-Creary in February from the Metropolitan Correctional Center in Chicago, where he had served as warden since April 2007.

No stranger to Kentucky, the Indiana native graduated from Bellarmine University, Louisville, in 1991 with a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration.

Wilson started his career with the Federal Bureau of Prisons that October as a Correctional Officer at the Federal Correctional Institution (FCI) Lompoc, California. In February 1994, he was promoted to Woodworking Supervisor and a year later he transferred to FCI Cumberland, Maryland.

Wilson returned to FCI Lompoc in July 1997 as the Assistant Factory Manager then was promoted to Factory Manager at the United States Penitentiary (USP) in Allenwood, Pennsylvania, in November 1998.

In June of 2000, he was promoted to superintendent of Industries at FCI Raybrook, New York. He subsequently held positions of Associate Warden at USP Leaven-worth (Kansas) and the Federal Detention Center, Honolulu, Hawaii.
