| NJ State Prison Holds Book By Inmates |

New Jersey corrections officials are giving a book of poems and short stories written by more than 40 inmates a close look to determine whether it’s OK for inmates to read. The man who put the book together can’t understand what all the fuss is about. Retired journalist and writing teacher Kal Wagenheim had taught a monthly creative writing course to inmates at the main state prison in Trenton for five years. He published “Inside Out: Voices From New Jersey State Prison” a couple months ago -- a compilation of their work: "Three quarters of which are expressing regret over how they screwed up their lives and have hurt their families and themselves."
