| Sheriff Hopes Fence Stops Smuggling |

It's been a problem since the first man was placed behind bars, but in Clark County, contraband in the county jail has reached new levels. So the sheriff is taking measures to stop it. It's a low tech solution for a highly dangerous situation -- the smuggling of tobacco, drugs and even weapons to prisoners being held behind bars. And you may not believe how they were pulling it off. Sheriff David Turner says, "What they do is, they have a top bunk where they can stand; they have to squat down a little bit." He's explaining how the inmates burn holes in the windows at the top of their cells, so friends can help smuggle in contraband. He adds, "First we put up the no loitering signs, put cameras up. They still did it even though we had cameras up. We've charged numerous people with either a class D or class B felony." Read more.
