Jails stock up on face masks and prepare for swine flu TAMPA, FL -- If someone brings a case of swine flu into the confined space of the Hillsborough County Jail, it could spread through the jail in a matter of hours or days. That's what jail medical director Dr. Bethany Weaver predicts. For that reason, the jail system is stocking up on face masks and developing a pandemic plan in case swine flu is confirmed in Tampa Bay. Weaver says they have to keep inmates safe, and make sure jail employees remain healthy. The sheriff's office has stockpiled 70,000 face masks for use by deputies and inmates.
