| Maine Center Receives Accreditation |

SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine -- Maine Corrections Commissioner Martin Magnusson says the Long Creek Youth Development Center in South Portland has won the highest possible score in accreditation review by an outside agency. The American Correctional Association conducted a three-day reaccreditation review of the facility, which can house 163 young offenders. The review looked at hundreds of safety, security, treatment and medical standards. The Corrections Department said Wednesday that few juvenile facilities across the country achieve ACA accreditation. Read more.
