Have you thanked your corrections officer today? By Crookston Daily Times May 3 through 9 is National Correctional Officers Week. Corrections officers do not typically receive the same level of recognition that police officers, sheriff’s deputies, emergency medical technicians/paramedics and fire department personnel do, but their job is no less difficult. Corrections officers spend their 12-hour shifts supervising people who have been temporarily removed from society for violating the laws of our community. Many of these people are intoxicated, belligerent, combative, mentally ill or just generally anti-social. The corrections officers of the Northwest Regional Corrections Center strive to manage the inmate population with humanity and respect, while providing for the safety of the general public.Read more.
