| Regular visiting hours resume at Tulare County jails |

THE PORTERVILLE RECORDER Normal visiting hours for Tulare County jails have been reinstated by Sheriff Bill Whittman. As a precautionary measure, Whittman temporarily suspended visiting to all of the county jails from May 3 through May 10. The decision was made to assist in minimizing the possible exposure of the potential flu virus H1N1, or swine flu, to the inmate population, their families, jail staff, volunteers and the public. The action was taken in accordance with information provided by the Tulare County Health and Human Services Agency. The Sheriff’s Department will continue to monitor the facilities and the information provided by the Health Department concerning the virus.Read more.
