Man given time in Mobile's Community Corrections Center for assaulting corrections officer Posted by Gary McElroy, Staff Reporter MOBILE, Ala. -- Maurice Lamont Haynes was sentenced to three years in Mobile's Community Corrections Center today in connection with guilty pleas to two assault cases. In one case, prosecutors said, Haynes, 27, struck an apartment maintenance man with a lead pipe in 2007. Later, while incarcerated in the Mobile County Metro Jail, Haynes hit a corrections officer. Prosecutors asked for a 10-year sentence in prison, but Circuit Judge Sarah Stewart ordered Haynes to the corrections center, where he will undergo intense drug counseling and other classes designed to put him on the straight and narrow.
