Two Lackawanna County (Pa.) Prison inmates have been accused of sodomizing, beating and sexually abusing a fellow male inmate from August 2003 to January 2004. Accused are Joshua Trapane, 24, of Kingston, and Raymond Hern, 26, of 2416 Ransom Road in Clarks Summit. The alleged victim and a second inmate came forward in late January and reported the abuse to authorities. Charges were filed April 21. According to court papers: The abuse began when -- twice a week -- Mr. Trapane and Mr. Hern would allegedly tie the victim to a bed with sheets. On Jan. 7, an inmate allegedly saw the defendants tie the victim's ankles together, hoist him upside down from a cage that protects the ceiling smoke detector and beat him. On Jan. 21, the two defendants allegedly forced the second inmate to fight with the victim. If they didn't fight, they were threatened with being tied together in a sexual position. Mr. Trapane and Mr. Hern are both in prison for parole violations. |
