Five-time world champion boxer Johnny Tapia has been released from prison by the state parole board. The Associated Press reports that Tapia had been sentenced to nine days behind bars back in April but the corrections department wouldn’t release him after nine days because he had no parole plan. Tapia still must serve a year on parole. The Albuquerque boxer from the San Jose neighborhood has a long history of trouble with cocaine. Read more.
