A fingerprint on the fake bomb found in the Northumberland County, Penn. Prison recreation yard almost a year ago has been "linked to a known subject," District Attorney Tony Rosini announced last week.
Also, the makeup of the filler material of the device has been identified, he said.
However, because the investigation is being conducted in tandem with other investigations at the prison, authorities are not releasing any further details, including the suspect's name, Rosini said in a statement.
On Oct. 23, Sunbury residents awoke to blocks being cordoned off by police and fire officials, and a voluntary evacuation of homes stretching about a block in each direction from the prison at Second and Arch streets.
The shoebox-sized "bomb," covered with electrical tape with wires sticking out of it, was found at 5:15 a.m. during a security sweep.
After an ordinance demolition team from Fort Indiantown Gap in Annville X-rayed the device, it was determined there were no incendiary materials inside and the team dismantled it.
Northumberland County Chief Detective Gabriel DeMarco announced in early August that an identifiable fingerprint was found on the device by personnel at the State Police Crime Lab in Harrisburg.
He said that print would be processed through the Automated Fingerprint Identification System, which apparently led to last week's announcement.
Authorities said before they were not sure whether the device was thrown over the wall of the prison from the outside or placed in the yard from the inside.
While Rosini did not say what other investigations are involved, a grand jury probe into alleged extortion, drug dealing and other crimes at the prison involving both staff and inmates has reportedly been under way for months.

Woah what is with this print match to be found In bomb case and that too inside a prison. I hope the cheap and fast online printing services do not cater such advances towards insane problems, and these situations are rather rare I believe.
