Nearly $1.5M of Marijuana Intercepted at Border Patrol Checkpoint Pine Valley, Calif. — On Thursday morning, a man was arrested for attempting to smuggle nearly $1.5 million worth of marijuana through a U.S. Border Patrol checkpoint on westbound Interstate 8 in Pine Valley. At about 4:30 a.m., agents encountered the 48-year-old suspected smuggler, a Mexican national lawfully within the United States, as he drove a semi tractor-trailer to the checkpoint.
