| Topeka woman gets 41 months for fatal DUI |

TOPEKA, Kan. (AP) - A 38-year-old Topeka woman has been sentenced to 41 months in prison for a fatal drunk driving accident in March. Evelyn Elizabeth Brooks was sentenced Thursday in Shawnee County District Court. She pleaded no-contest July 15 to involuntary manslaughter while driving under the influence of alcohol. Prosecutors said Brooks was driving her 2003 Lincoln Navigator the wrong way on Interstate 70 the night of March 20 when she struck a small car driven by 27-year-old Cara S. Jackson, also of Topeka.
