Jason Getsy is the fourth person this calendar year that Ohio has put to death. For Getsy, his last moments were spent with family and friends. For the victim's family, today marked the end of a 14-year battle for justice. Inside the walls of the Southern Ohio Correctional Facility, a convicted killer is put to death. Jason Getsy shot and killed 66-year-old Ann Serafino in 1995 in a murder for hire plot, aimed at her son Chuck. Chuck was shot several times, but survived. Getsy was only 19 at the time of the crime. At 33 years old, Getsy claimed to have found God and used his faith to get him through the execution. "Getsy chose to have his Bible and read his Bible. He chose to have his spirituality adviser with him," said Julie Walburn with the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction. Read More. |
