| Corrections officer injured in Millville crash |

MILLVILLE -- A 25-year-old Millville man is injured but in good condition after his motorcycle hit a mini-van Monday at the intersection of Dividing Creek and Buckshutem roads. The Millville Rescue Squad treated the man, Nicholas Mionie, on scene. A helicopter took him to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center's trauma center in Atlantic City. The hospital said it could release no further information on his condition. Mionie is a corrections officer at Southern State Correctional Facility in Delmont and was in uniform at the time of the crash. He has been with the state Department of Corrections for more than four years, according to a department spokeswoman. The accident occurred about 12:30 p.m. A police report said Joseph Hastings, 76, of Montgomery, Ala., was first at the intersection in his minivan. Hastings told police he stopped, checked traffic on Buckshutem Road and then entered the intersection. Read More. |
