Two brothers remain in the Austin County Jail this evening after being arrested and charged today with murder in the shooting death of a Houston doctor last weekend at his Bellville ranch. The Texas Rangers, Austin County and regional law enforcement officers are still looking for their cousin, who was also charged with murder. Cristobal Galvan Cerna, 23, and Moises Galvan Cerna, 18, both of the Sharpstown area of Houston, are accused of killing Dr. Jorge Mario Gonzalez, 56, a pulmonary medicine specialist and chief of The Methodist Hospital Research Institute’s critical care section. The suspects are brothers of Gonzalez’s ranch hand, who was also shot. Investigators are looking for their cousin, 18-year-old Misael Santollo, who was identified as a third suspect, according to Capt. Freeman Martin with the Texas Rangers. Gonzalez was gunned down in his ranch home outside of Bellville on Aug. 22 as he, his wife, 18-month-old child and ranch hand, now identified as Noel Galvan Cerna, arrived. The family had just arrived at the ranch, Martin said, where the three masked suspects were waiting inside. All three were armed, Martin said. Gonzalez attempted to fight back, grabbing his gun and exchanged fire with the suspects. He was shot several times and died at the scene. Martin refused to say how many shots Gonzalez fired at the suspects. Read More. |
