Mayor Jim Fouts in July accused the state of using Warren as " a dumping ground for sex offenders and drug addicts without our knowledge." Now, he's doing the dumping: Fouts announced Thursday the city reached an agreement with the Michigan Corrections Department to remove sex offenders from the Self Help Addiction Rehabilitation treatment center on Chicago Road. "They were to close to comfort," Fouts told the Oakland Press, who note the center is across the street from the Michigan Elite Volleyball Club, where more than 800 girls play each week. Roughly six sex offenders will temporarily be moved to a Detroit facility, and Fouts has agreed to help the state find a new location. Read More. |
