Authorities are searching for a Pennsylvania man who escaped from the DeKalb County Correctional Facility on Sunday night. The escapee, Emmitt Arlee Harris, also known as Adijah A Uhuru, is a 57-year-old black male listed at 5-foot-8 and 200 pounds from South Pittsburgh, Pa. Harris is the first inmate to escape since the DeKalb County facility opened in 2006, according to the sheriff’s office. “At approximately 8:45, Harris climbed an internal 14-foot security fence and went through three layers of razor wire, pulling himself to the top of the building and then jumping about 14 feet from the roof,” DeKalb County Sheriff Jimmy Harris said. The sheriff said the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives charged the escapee in 2008 as a felon in possession of a firearm, and he was sentenced to 33 months. Read More. |
