| West Des Moines playing host to competition for dogs |

Law enforcement officials from all over the nation are converging on West Des Moines. This week is the National Field Trial for police K-9s. "We have 94 dogs in town for the week competing in various events to basically determine the top dog in the country," says Brent Kock with the West Des Moines Police Department. It's an annual competition but this is the first time it's been in Iowa. Dogs will be tested on obedience, agility, and criminal apprehension among other tests. The handlers will also be tested on their ability to control the K-9s. An officer for the Newton Correctional Facility says his dog, Zeke, is a special tool. Read More. |
