| 'Pulp Fiction's Avary sentenced to jail |

Roger Avary, a writer on movies including "Beowulf" and "Pulp Fiction," has been sentenced to a year in jail for vehicular manslaughter. In the early morning hours of Jan. 13, 2008, Avary was driving while intoxicated when he hit a telephone pole north of Los Angeles. His wife Gretchen was ejected and suffered serious injuries, and passenger Andreas Zedini was killed. On Aug. 18, Avary plead guilty to charges of gross vehicular manslaughter and two felony counts of causing bodily injury while intoxicated. The writer will also serve five years' probation.
