| Rosebud Sioux gets $25m |

WASHINGTON – Rep. Herseth Sandlin recently announced that the Rosebud Sioux Tribe is the recipient of a $25 million grant to construct an adult correctional facility with enhanced capacity that supports the cultural traditions of rehabilitating the incarcerated. The funding was authorized as part of the Recovery Act Correctional Facilities on Tribal Lands Program. “Improving law enforcement in Indian country is one of my top priorities in Congress,” Sandlin said. “Part of this effort is constructing correctional facilities that are safer and more secure for inmates and staff. This funding will strengthen the efforts of the Rosebud Sioux Tribe to improve its tribal justice system and keep communities in Indian country safe.” Read More. |
