The death of a prisoner at Garner Correctional Institution in Newtown, Conn., is under investigation, NBC 30 reported.
A Department of Corrections spokesman said an inmate became "physically disruptive" at about 3:15 p.m. last Wednesday.
As staff attempted to gain control of the 47-yr-old inmate, he went into cardiac arrest.
Despite efforts to give him CPR, he was pronounced dead at Danbury Hospital, officials said.
The inmate's name has not been released.
