We have the best health care in the state for anyone serving five years to life. Of course no one would actively use those slogans to hype anyplace, but that is part of the fear of what people would be thinking or mumbling if not one but two state prison medical center actually opens southeast of Stockton. The first center is a 1.2 million-square-foot sub-acute medical and mental health care facility at the site of the Karl Holton Youth Correctional Facility that would open in 2011 if it continues as planned. The $1.1 billion facility would have space for 1,734 convicts, including some from maximum-security prisons and mentally ill sex offenders. Read More. |
