OCALA -- A second corrections officer at the Federal Correctional Complex in Coleman has been indicted on charges that he conspired to kill an inmate by placing him into a locked cell with a prisoner nicknamed "Animal." Michael Kennedy of Inverness posted bond of $50,000 to earn his conditional release Monday. A woman who answered the phone this afternoon at Kennedy's home said he would have no comment. The federal prison is located northwest of Orlando in Sumter County. A fellow corrections officer, Erin Sharma, a 33-year-old wife and mother, was sentenced last week to life in prison after a federal jury in Orlando found her guility of identical crimes. Read More. |
