| Gibbons Concerned On Possible Early Release Of State Prisoners |

Tennessee GOP gubernatorial candidate Bill Gibbons today issued the following statement in response to a proposal by the Department of Corrections to save money by releasing prisoners early: “I am very concerned about any proposal to balance the state budget by releasing state prisoners early and thereby risking the safety of Tennesseans and our communities. “As a candidate for governor, I strongly oppose this idea. As governor, I would never compromise public safety to balance a budget. I hope – and believe – Governor Bredesen will take a long, hard look before agreeing to cut the state's number one priority of public safety. Read More. |
