Prison Deal Could Create 3,000 Jobs

WASHINGTON -- Federal lawmakers from Illinois and Iowa said their constituents want new jobs and support a plan to house Guantanamo Bay detainees at a prison in Thomson, Ill.

A White House analysis estimates the plan would create up to 3,000 jobs in its first year. The president's Council of Economic Advisers said local residents would be "excellent candidates" for up to 1,400 of the new jobs.
