| City continues crackdown on graffiti on walls |

Initiated in May, the city’s graffiti abatement project is designed to alleviate graffiti around the city. Department of Corrections inmates and city crews go throughout the city focusing on graffiti that is derogatory and gang related. “No one likes it and it creates an eyesore in the parks and to the public,” said Chris Lisenby, sports supervisor for Tallahassee’s parks and recreation department. “We are trying hard to get rid of it all.” It’s a problem throughout the city, with Tom Brown Park and Kleman Plaza included in the target areas. The city estimates that 10 to 15 sites a week are cleaned. The culprits are believed to be teenagers. “The main problem is kids not having anything to do and they start doing things like this,” said Alex Lewis, a parks and recreation supervisor. Read More. |
