New warden appointed at Dodge Correctional Institution

MADISON — Wisconsin Department of Corrections (DOC) Secretary Rick Raemisch has announced the appointment of Jim Schwochert as warden of the Dodge Correctional Institution (DCI).

That's one of several top leadership changes taking shape within the DOC's adult prison system.

"As the central reception facility for new adult male inmates, Dodge Correctional Institution serves a critical role in managing inmates in our Division of Adult Institutions," Raemisch said. "I am confident that Jim Schwochert will lead the facility through what will be a time of change as we implement various criminal justice and corrections reforms that were included in the 2009-11 state budget."

The promotion of Schwochert, the former deputy warden at DCI, is part of leadership changes that reflect the new initiatives impacting the Division of Adult Institutions, Raemisch said.

The changes are expected to enhance the DOC's ability to implement and manage the initiatives safely and effectively, he said.
