| Bank robber who once escaped prison found dead |

Randy Rencher, a bank robber who once escaped from Cook County jail in a prison guard's uniform and went out to rob banks and go on the lam -- was found dead in prison today, authorities said. Rencher, 41, who was sentenced to a total of 47 years in prison, hanged himself, a source familiar with the matter said. A U.S. Bureau of Prisons spokeswoman confirmed his death . Rencher was being housed at the the Allenwood Federal Correctional Complex in Pennsylvania. Last year, Rencher held a busload of inmates hostage outside the downtown federal courthouse for nearly half an hour before eventually getting Tasered, officials said. Read More. |
