CAMDEN -- Demolition is set to begin Wednesday on a closed prison along the Delaware River across from Philadelphia. Demolition on Riverfront State Prison in Camden is expected to last until spring. By knocking it down, Gov. Jon Corzine is making good on a promise to city officials. The prison was built 24 years ago amid protests. Not long after, a nearby stretch of land began to be redeveloped for tourism. Read More. |
