| Firefighters battle blaze at Parnall Correctional Facility near Jackson |

Fire broke out about 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Parnall Correctional Facility laundry facility in Blackman Township. Large clouds of light, gray smoke billowed from the structure, and by 8:30 p.m., flames were visible from E. Parnall Road near N. Elm Avenue. Russ Marlan, state Department of Corrections spokesman, said he had been informed shortly after the fire started. No equipment appeared to be damaged and no one was injured, he said.
