| Prison chief alters policy on early release |

CONCORD (AP) — Convicted murderers and other violent offenders no longer will be able to seek early release from prison in New Hampshire by petitioning a sentence review board. Corrections Commissioner William Wrenn signed the revised policy Thursday, a day after a judge denied a request from Eric Grant, who has served 19 years of the 29-year sentence he received after being convicted of killing his wife in 1990. Wrenn told the New Hampshire Union Leader that he made the change because of concerns raised by victim advocates after the review board approved allowing Grant and another man to petition the court.
