Traffic Fatality Claims Life of DOC Officer

A Department of Corrections officer killed while riding his motorcycle with friends in Tamuning.

It was just before 2 am when veteran corrections officer 31 year old Leon Anthony Guillermo was riding his 2007 Harley Davidson. Rounding the curve by the road down to Jimmy Dee's Beach Bar, along Carlos Camacho Road Guillermo lost control of his ride.

Guillermo was pronounced dead at Guam Memorial Hospital shortly after 2 am this morning...

There was no rain at the time of the accident. Its not clear where there was any debris on the street which Guillermo might have hit. Officer Guzman says Guillermo was not wearing a helmet. Speed and alcohol are being looked at as factors in the accident.

Department of Corrections Deputy Director Captain Jesse Tupaz said that Guillermo was a 7 year veteran and a member of the special operations group. Tupaz said that he had ridden with Guillermo before and knew him as a very careful rider
