A top Corrections Department is defending the decision to move 2-thousand Pennsylvania prison inmates to two other states. Executive deputy corrections secretary Bill Sprenkle told the House Judiciary Committee that Pennsylvania’s state prison system is at 120-percent of capacity, and there’s nowhere to put inmates in the event of an emergency: “Quite frankly, we’re now at a situation where we have to take immediate action and the out-of-state placement is really our only alternative.” Read More. |
