A female inmate died at a hospital after she fought with another inmate last Monday afternoon at the Miami-Dade (Fla.) Women's Detention Center, a corrections official said. The fight took place about 4:30 p.m. at the jail, in Northwest Miami-Dade. The woman, whose name was not released pending notification of kin, was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital, where she died. The name of the other inmate has not been released. The death has not been ruled a homicide pending an autopsy. No arrests have been made, but Miami-Dade detectives were on the scene, said Janelle Hall, a corrections spokeswoman. Hall said the dead woman did not appear to have any wounds. She also said no weapons appeared to be involved, although detectives are investigating. |
