STILLWATER, Minn. -- The Stillwater prison is in a full lockdown after more than 100 inmates refused to return to their cells Sunday afternoon.

Shari Burt, the communications director for the State Department of Corrections, says the problem started around 1 p.m. when 150-200 inmates refused to switch to their cells after lunch.

It took until about 3:40 p.m. for all inmates to voluntarily return to their cells. Prison officials say the inmates indicated they were protesting unit rules.

No one was injured and there was minimal property damage. It's not clear when the lockdown will be lifted but it remained in effect late Sunday night.
