Remembering Deputy John Bernard

GRANT COUNTY--Local, state and federal law enforcement agencies bid a final farewell to Deputy John Bernard.

The Grant County Sheriff's Deputy was killed while on duty in a car accident

It was another great loss for the law enforcement community.

“We all do the same job. We sign in to service every morning. We come to work to protect and serve the communities we're assigned to, and so when something like this happens it doesn't matter if it's an officer from your agency or not, it's one of our family members,” Trooper Rich Magnussen from Washington State Patrol said.

From the Tri-Cities to the west side to even Canada, law enforcement made the trip to pay their respects.

“Anytime an officer is lost either off or on duty it's tragic, but when it's on duty it hits home a lot more,” Trooper Rich Magnussen from Washington State Patrol said.

It was a ceremony filled with tradition, and for those who knew and worked with John Bernard, it was especially difficult
