MUSKOGEE — A former Oklahoma prison inmate has filed a federal court lawsuit against four state prison officials, accusing them of unlawfully keeping him in prison 196 days beyond the time when he had completed serving his sentence. Nick Easter, 43, of Fort Gibson, was sentenced on April 9, 2007, to three years in prison for possession of a controlled substance, possession of a stolen vehicle, knowingly concealing stolen property and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. Easter contends he should have been released June 10, 2008, if all his credits and sentencing terms had been properly taken into consideration, but that he was not released until Dec. 23, 2008.
