Michigan Prosecutors Against Early Parole

KALAMAZOO -- Prosecutors all over Michigan did what they have never done before, and that’s launch a media counter offensive against the state corrections department and their efforts to cut their prison population. Kalamazoo Prosecutor Jeff Fink says any one they send away to prison is there for two reasons, because they have committed a serious crime, and because they have a history of criminal offenses. Fink says the last two homicides committed in Kalamazoo were perpetrated by parolees.

They introduced Rose King, the owner of the Hilltop laundry in Jones, which was the scene of a murderous blood bath 17 years ago. She says her granddaughter, who survived the slaughter is terrified because one of the men convicted of the crime is due for parole this spring.
