| Officials search for inmate who left home detention |

YAKIMA, Wash. -- Authorities are searching for a Yakima County jail inmate who walked away Thursday morning from her home while she was on electronic home monitoring, the Yakima County Department of Corrections said. The woman is identified as Benita Desiree Long, 28. Long left her home about 8:30 a.m. Thursday. She is described as being 5 feet, 3 inches tall, weighing 140 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. She had been in custody since Oct. 10 and was serving a 181-day sentence on driving and drug possession charges, according to a Corrections Department news release. She was approved for home detention monitoring on Dec. 3 and was scheduled for release in early March. Inmates approved for electronic monitoring wear an ankle bracelet that notifies the department if the inmate leaves an approved premises during unscheduled times. Read More. |
