Nebraska ACLU Questions Prison Plans For Religious Revival
By Associated Press
Published: 09/22/2003

Nebraska American Civil Liberties Union questions a prison religious revival scheduled for the Chuck Colson Ministries. The ACLU said a revival-style religious meeting in the state penitentiary would show preference. Other religious groups have been denied access to put on similar programs.
The events are planned by the Department of Corrections and the Health and Human Services System. The religious program is scheduled for all correctional facilities and youth centers in Nebraska. Complaints have been filed.
The ACLU has also expressed concern to state lawmakers about the use of prison staff and resources to hold the events. Prison and HHS officials were not quick to return calls to comment seekers.
