CAMDEN — A man who alleges two recently suspended Camden police officers assaulted him during a drug arrest has been released early from a state prison sentence. A Camden County Prosecutor's Office spokesman confirmed Monday that Alanda Forrest's sentence was vacated, but gave no reason. Forrest, who claims in a federal lawsuit that Camden officers Kevin Parry and Jason Stetser beat him during a July 2008 drug arrest, was released from Bayside State Prison on Jan. 6, according to the state Department of Corrections. At his release, Forrest had served about eight months of an 18-month to three-year sentence for a conviction that arose from the 2008 arrest, according to DOC records. Camden Police Chief Scott Thomson said in November that Stetser, Parry and a third officer, Antonio Figueroa, were suspended without pay from the department. He also confirmed on Monday that a fourth officer has been suspended. Police officials have not given a reason for the suspensions or said if they were a part of a larger investigation. Thomson declined to comment Monday on the suspended officers or on Forrest's sudden release. Read More. |
