A Union Township, Clermont County will go before a judge this morning on charges that he forced another driver off the road and claimed to be a state trooper. But police say the suspect, 64 year old Charles Moeller, had a history of faking his identity and had made up numerous stories about himself in different states where he has previously lived. Police arrested Moeller at his Union Township home Monday afternoon. On Monday night, Moeller is accused of using his blue Jeep Liberty to force a 60 year old Pierce Township resident to stop in the area of State Route 125, at the off ramp from Southbound I-275. Moeller approached the other driver and displayed an unknown type of identification card and stated that he was a State Trooper. When asked to show his badge, Moeller implied that he had a gun. Once Moeller could not produce a badge, the driver of the stopped vehicle fled the scene. Police have since received tips from four other people who say they had come in contact with Moeller and detectives say in his previous homes in Virginia, Florida, and Michigan, Moeller had been passing himself off as a West Point graduate, father of a federal agent, a widower and even a cancer patient. Belinda Warren was Moeller's neighbor at the Fox Chase Apartments in Milford. She says he often flashed a Glock style gun and badge and said both came in handy. When he moved in a year ago, he told people his name was Gary, that he was a former Navy Seal and had medals of honor. He told neighbors his son was an agent with Homeland Security gave him the gun. Belinda says, "I had some loud neighbors and I told him about it and he said, well, I can come down, knock on the door, and show them my gun and badge and that will shut them up." Read More. |
