Authorities arrested and charged an Illinois Department of Corrections employee for allegedly having sex with a 17-year-old girl in custody at the Juvenile Detention Center in Warrenville, where he worked. The DuPage County state's attorney's office charged 33-year-old Larry Johnson of Chicago with one count of criminal sexual assault, one count of custodial sexual misconduct and two counts of official misconduct. The charges, filed last Monday, followed an Illinois State Police investigation prompted by a civilian's complaint that in the early-evening hours of Dec. 21, 2002, Johnson had sexual intercourse with a female juvenile who was in custody at the facility, according to the state's attorney's office. A judge in a Wheaton bond court set Johnson's bond at $500,000. He has an arraignment date of June 14. If convicted on all three charges -- all felonies -- Johnson could be sentenced to up to 25 years in the state Department of Corrections. |
