A Monroe County jail inmate who failed to return from a work detail turned himself in Tuesday morning, authorities say. Ryan Stamets, 38, was booked into the jail on charges of escape, sheriff's spokeswoman Becky Herrin said. Stamets did not return to the Stock Island detention center at 2 a.m. Monday after working at a downtown restaurant, Herrin said. Stamets was arrested June 13 by Key West police for driving under the influence of alcohol and driving with his license suspended, Herrin said. Read More. |
