Nevada prisons chief shuts down camp after walk away CARSON CITY (AP) — Nevada’s prisons chief has shut down a rural inmate camp and ordered refresher training for staff after an inmate walked away earlier this month. Correctional officers transferred the 113 minimum security inmates from the Tonopah Conservation Camp to other camps on Wednesday. Department of Corrections Director Howard Skolnik says 10 staff members were placed on paid administrative leave and the camp will remain closed while staff receives more training on basic policies and procedures. The move follows an investigation into the Jan. 10 escape of 34-year-old James Paster, who is serving time for battery and possession and stolen vehicle. Paster was captured a week later in Las Vegas.
