| Attempted Escapists to be Separated |

HOUSTON — Five inmates who failed in an escape attempt that left three shot and all with cuts from fence wire will be assigned to different units, the Texas Department of Criminal Justice said. The attempted breakout Friday from the maximum security Polunsky Unit remains under investigation as the prisoners, all serving life terms, are separated. No escape attempt from the unit near Livingston has been successful, prison system spokesman Jason Clark said Monday. The three prisoners who were shot were treated and later released. All five inmates suffered cuts from razor wire atop an interior fence, Clark said. Read More. |
