| Corrections Department hopes to expand Palmer pre-trial facility |

PALMER, Alaska -- The Alaska Department of Corrections is considering a plan to expand one of its facilities in Palmer. The Mat-Su Pre-Trial Facility is over capacity and DOC wants to add on, building a larger prisoner booking center with 20 additional cells. The plan also includes creating a new work-release center and building housing units for officers in training. The Department is looking to purchase the entire block where the pre-trial facility is, which includes the Palmer police station and the Palmer office for Alaska State Troopers. Read More. |
